Process
A clear method, from brief to sample.
- Brief. You send the request through the form: product, stage, number of styles, timing, references.
- Reading. Michele reviews it personally and replies by email. If the project is a fit, he suggests a call to clarify details.
- Proposal. A written proposal with phases, deliverables, timing and price.
- Design and development. Research, creative direction, design and tech packs, with review rounds included.
- Prototypes. Review of the samples with your supplier until the product matches the design.
Frequently asked questions
What is included in the price?
Each proposal lists phases, deliverables and what is included. Tech packs include two revision rounds per style and support to your manufacturer on questions about them. Travel for on-site reviews is charged separately.
Do you make patterns, size charts or grading?
No. Pattern making, measurement charts and grading are done by your pattern maker or factory, as is standard practice. Michele designs the product, writes the tech pack and reviews the prototypes against the design.
Can you find a factory for me?
The best results come when you choose your supplier first: every factory has different capabilities and limits. Michele then works with that supplier on complexity and solutions, instead of designing against generic constraints.
How does the prototype review work?
On site at your supplier, with the pattern maker, or by video call. Michele checks proportions, volumes, construction and details against the design and gives precise corrections. Typically two styles are reviewed in a day.
How many revisions are included?
Two revision rounds per style. Further rounds are agreed in the proposal.
How long does it take?
Tech packs usually take one to two weeks once the brief, references and materials are complete. For a collection of around 20 styles, creative direction takes three to four weeks and design development eight to twelve. Every proposal states the timing for your project.
What files do I receive?
Factory-ready PDF tech packs, organised by style, plus the editable Adobe Illustrator files of the technical drawings. If your manufacturer needs a specific template, the tech packs are built to it.
Will you sign an NDA? Who owns the designs?
Yes, Michele is happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before you share details. The designs become yours once the project is paid in full.
Do you work with brands outside Italy?
Yes. Most of the work is done remotely, by email and video call, and Michele travels to suppliers when an in-person review is needed.
Do you work on a monthly retainer?
Ongoing collaborations are planned per season rather than per month, so that each collection is completed properly. Seasonal support is available at a daily rate.
